You may have known me as Mr. Boettcher! I got married this summer and I'm Mr. Twiss now. It's a lot easier to pronounce and spell.
I teach because I believe that learning liberates minds and makes us critical of how we interact with the world. I believe in the next generations ability to become themselves and affect the future for good. My masters thesis was about how math functions like language, and language is the highest level of learning in the brain. Ask me about it, I'll talk your ear off. I started working for PPS in 2014. I am very excited to kick off another school year at da Vinci teaching 8th grade Math and Health. I've taught Science and Language Arts here too thanks to my broad licensing. Before teaching I worked for Outward Bound instructing month long mountaineering and rock climbing courses for several years. I've also worked in special education and residential counseling which both inform my practice today. When not in school you'll find me doing a lot of house projects, climbing, or reading a good book. |
